Titanium Tubing Overview

Product Description

🔷 Ti6Al4V Gr5 Seamless & ASTM B338 Grade 2 Tubing

Titanium and its alloys are high-performance metals capable of withstanding extremely high temperatures. Specification ASTM B338 covers approximately 28 grades of titanium alloys. The titanium tubing defined by this specification is widely used in heat exchangers, surface condensers, and evaporators.

Key Applications: High-temperature environments where longevity and excellent performance are critical. Components are available in both seamless and welded constructions.

Seamless tubes are produced from hollow billets through cold reducing or cold drawing processes. Welded construction utilizes an automatic arc weld process, followed by adequate cold working to transform the cast weld microstructure into a conventional equiaxed microstructure via heat treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the standard specification for these titanium tubes? The tubes primarily follow ASTM B338, which covers 28 grades of titanium and titanium alloy seamless and welded tubes for condensers and heat exchangers.
2. What is the difference between Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium tubing? Grade 2 is Commercially Pure (CP) titanium, offering excellent corrosion resistance and moderate strength. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is an alloyed titanium providing much higher tensile strength and heat resistance, suitable for aerospace and high-stress applications.
3. What are the common applications for these tubes? They are extensively used in heat exchangers, surface condensers, evaporators, aerospace components, automotive exhaust systems, and chemical processing equipment.
4. What temperature limits can these tubes withstand? CP Grade 2 tubes typically handle 480-540ºC (900-1000ºF), while Grade 5 tubing is generally rated for continuous service up to 427°C (800°F).
5. What types of testing are performed on the tubes? Testing includes Ultrasonic testing, Eddy Current testing, 100% Radiography (for welded tubes), PMI testing, and full chemical/mechanical property analysis.
6. Can the tubes be customized for specific dimensions? Yes, we provide value-added services such as cut-to-size, threading, grooving, beveling, polishing, and specialized coating services.
