Catalytic Converter
Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)
The three-way catalytic converter is a post-treatment device installed in the automobile exhaust system, which is mainly used to reduce harmful substances in the exhaust gas (such as carbon monoxide CO, hydrocarbon HC and nitrogen oxide NOx). By catalyzing the reaction, the three-way catalytic converter converts these harmful substances into harmless carbon dioxide (CO2), water (H2O) and nitrogen (N2).

Structure & Components

  • Shell: Made of stainless steel with high temperature and corrosion resistance.
  • Substrate: Honeycomb structure (ceramic or metallic) to increase surface area.
  • Catalyst Coating: Precious metals (Platinum Pt, Palladium Pd, Rhodium Rh) for REDOX reactions.
  • Thermal Insulation: High temperature ceramic fiber to reduce heat loss.
  • Sealing Gasket: Heat resistant materials like graphite or ceramic fiber to prevent leaks.
